  1. 01

    Choose somewhere nearby

Check the right branch, current service hours and your route back. Save the Korean name and address.

  2. 02

    Look at the whole order

Check the item, portion and price. Ask whether rice and side dishes are included and whether there is a minimum order.

  3. 03

    Ask before the kitchen starts

Explain dietary needs before ordering. Check whether you order at the table, counter or a screen, and when you pay.

POINT, ASK, ORDER

Keep the menu between you.

Ask to see the menu, then point to the item so you are both talking about the same dish. For one serving, you can say — “One serving of this, please.” Ask staff if the menu or portion is unclear.

Ask for the menu

Please show me the menu.

Choose by pointing

I’d like this, please.

SHOW THESE WORDS TO STAFF

Make your allergy clear.

These peanut examples help you start the conversation. Explain your own specific allergy before ordering and ask staff to check the ingredients and shared preparation.

01

Name your allergy

I have a peanut allergy.

02

Ask about the dish

Does this dish contain peanuts?

03

Check sauce and broth

Please check the ingredients in the sauce and broth too.

04

Check shared preparation

Do you use the same oil or cooking utensils for foods containing peanuts?

If it describes your needs, add — “I cannot eat it even if there is only a small amount.”

Removing a topping does not confirm the dish is suitable. Sauces, broth and shared equipment matter too. If staff cannot confirm your needs, choose another option.

AFTER YOUR MEAL

A coffee, and a little more Korean.

Try a cafe order, choose a hot or iced drink, and ask for a seat by the window.
